Hmmm…I Get Facebook Email Notifications for My Profile, Why Not for My Fan Page? I Found the Solution!!

By  |  30 Comments

So here I am wondering….

Why don’t I get email notifications from Facebook when someone interacts on my Fan Page like I do when

someone interacts on my profile??

PageNotifier Facebook Application emails you when someone interacts on your fan page

Seems like Facebook should have this integrated with our Fan Pages by now as we know how IMPORTANT it is to comment back and build those relationships with those that take the time to comment on our Fan Pages.  So I was browsing around Kacy Elyzabeth’s blog and found her post on the PageNotifier Application you can find on Facebook that does email you when someone posts a comment on your page!  COOLIO!!!

So I’d like to share with you what this application can do, it’s limitations, but also it’s SUPERB helpfulness when it comes to keeping track of who is doing what on your Facebook Fan Page!

How cool is that?

So you can at least get an email every 24 hours of who did what on your fan page, and if you want to be notified more frequently you can get a subscription plan for SUPER cheap.  Here is the link to the PageNotifier Application page for you to check out and see if’s something you’d like to use (this is not an affiliate link):

Please do let me know what you think of this awesome application by leaving your comment below and you know all of us with Fan Pages NEED an application like this so be sure to tweet it out and share this post on Facebook to get the word out and help our fellow entrepreneurs!  If you do plan to use it be sure to leave a comment on the Fan Page for PageNotifier to let them know they ROCK!

Roz, I love the technical thoroughness of your posts, you are a true expert and it blends so nicely with your gentle nature. I don’t have a FB page yet for my e-books and my Amazing Animation dental art page gets so few comments at this point that I don’t think I really need this right now, but I can see how someone would. Thanks again for the great content.

Thanks so much Joseph! What’s the link to your fanpage? I’m a Dental Hygienist as you know so I’ll be more than happy to “Like” your page…as you build your friendships on Facebook you can suggest your page to friends and get a ton of likes that way. My friend did this for me and it gave me a couple hundred likes in a matter of a few days which was a great boost!

You can also try to find others in your niche that can really appreciate your work for the quality that it is and you guys can help build each other up together. It’s nice when you don’t have to work the biz alone :).

Thanks so much for your comment!!

I actually downloaded this application and it hasnt notified me yet of any of mine. What I have done is everytime I post something I “like” that post so that when others comment on it, I get notified. I hope this helps, and if anyone knows why Im not getting notified by the app, please let me know lol.

If you go to the app page, http://www.facebook.com/pagenotifier and post your problem the creator of the app will directly address any issues you are having.

He’s been really helpful and supportive to those that need it so I would definately start there first! What you are doing now certainly works, but it takes a lot of time…the guys over there on the page should be able to figure out what it is that is not working :).

Thanks so much for stopping by and posting your comment Mary, I appreciate it!

Yep, I learned about that awhile ago…you’d think that FB would already offer that to their Fan Page webmasters!

    Good headsup indeed.

Hey, it’s Brandon Zundel, the developer of Page Notifier.

Just wanted to say thanks for your kind words about the app.

It’s certainly not perfect, but as an old boss of mine once said, “Perfection is the goal… excellence will be tolerated.”

Oh, and regarding your tutorial, you can use your vanity user name in the Page ID field when you’re setting up the app.

Thanks for stopping by Brandon and leaving your comment. It’s a WONDERFUL App, and I have NO IDEA why FB doesn’t have this now…but you have it so that’s all that matters.

It’s been working just fine for me, no bugs so that’s good! Thanks for developing a great app Brandon :).

Great tip Roz. Thanks for sharing this great tip. It can be somewhat of a hassle to continuously run over to your fan page to check on things like comments.

I actually got an error message when I tried to use the application:

Fatal error: Uncaught exception ‘FacebookRestClientException’ with message ‘Session key invalid or no longer valid’ in /home/facebook/public_html/facebookapi_php5_restlib.php:3388 Stack trace: #0 /home/facebook/public_html/facebookapi_php5_restlib.php(1037): FacebookRestClient->call_method(‘facebook.fql.qu…’, Array) #1 /home/facebook/public_html/index_2.php(315): FacebookRestClient->fql_query(‘SELECT first_na…’) #2 {main} thrown in /home/facebook/public_html/facebookapi_php5_restlib.php on line 3388

    What does this mean?

    • Roz Pearcy

      February 9, 2011 at 4:06 pm

As with most computer issues, sometimes they get buggy. As I didn’t develop the application myself I have no idea what it means but you have a couple of options.

You can either try the process again to see if you get the same error message or go to the application site on Facebook where you went to install it in the first place and post the question on the wall.

The guy that developed the application is very nice and seems to get to people’s questions very quickly. Someone else might have done the same thing already so you can read the wall comments to see what’s going on.

I am still getting notifications so it’s still working on my end…I hope that helps!

    Hey Roz,

I have never heard of this application before. Thanks for letting us know and for sharing this incredible post. Yes it’s true that Facebook doesn’t give notifications every time someone leaves a comment on our Facebook and we always have to check it every time. I’ll give this app a try and see how this would work for me.

I have several Facebook Pages and it’s too annoying to integrate from one page to another just to check who posted on my page’s wall and commented on it since I don’t get any notification of any of my page’s activity. I would love to give this one a try. Thank you for sharing this information.
